Yep, it’s that time of year again–time to grab your wrist bands and rediscover your love for funnel cakes and ferris wheel rides. It’s the 80th Anniversary of the Ozark Empire Fair! This year the fun kicks off on July 28th and goes until August 6th. There’s so much to do this time, it’s hard to pack it into one blog post. You’ll be going back to the fairgrounds at least once or twice to catch everything that’s going on! So, here are 10 exciting things you won’t want to miss this year at the fair.
There are tons of opportunities to hear live music this year! The week kicks off with a concert by .38 Special, presented by KSPR 33 in celebration of their 33rd anniversary. On July 29th, you can catch Chris Janson and Meghan Linsey from “The Voice” hit the KY3 grandstand. Doors are at 6pm and the show is at 7pm. On July 31st, Newsboys with Nate and the Saint’s will put on a show as well, presented by Convoy of Hope and The Wind. Tickets for each of these concerts range from $8-$30, depending on where you want to sit!
Brace yourself for some action packed fun at the Hardee’s Extreme Invitational Rodeo! This is sure to be one of the highlight events at the fair! The fun happens on August 5th & 6th. Reserved seating for this event is $15, adult general admission is $10 and child general admission is $5. The fair admission and parking is not included in the ticket pricing. Fun for the young and the young at heart!
The different types of food that the fair offers is half the fun of going! Funnel cakes, giant corn dogs, taco trucks, cotton candy… name your dream dish and they’ve probably got it. Not to mention the fresh squeezed lemonade and Pineapple Whip (!!!) Plus, the fair is a great place to find basically any type of food on a stick. Who doesn’t love food on a stick?
For one night only (August 1st) the Outlaw Nationals are returning to the fair! See the most awesome monster truck superstars in all out war. Plus, If you bring $10, you can take a ride on the monster ride truck! Don’t miss the metal crushing, car smashing dare devils do battle at the Fairgrounds. It’ll be a night of total destruction that you don’t want to miss. Lower Grandstand reserved seating for this event is $25, adult general admission is $16 and child general admission is $10. The fair admission and parking is not included in the ticket pricing.
With new divisions and classes, there is something for everyone here. Come see all that this year has to offer with the updated East Hall layout, featuring a cooking stage, Missouri-made products for sale, interactive agriculture display, special events contest stage, local arts demonstrations and thousands of Life & Arts entries from the local community!
Back for it’s second year, the Dig Into Ag-Venture day camps are being offered at the fair on a series of topics to serve as a connection between youth and agriculture! The camps are designed to help children learn about food and how it is produced. Camps will be offered from 10:00am to 12:30pm on most days of the fair. This is for children ages 3 through 12 and topics include beef and dairy cattle, sheep and goats, swine, grains, bees and honey, poultry, & fruits and vegetables! This is a great chance for your littles to learn more about what happens with our food and how it’s produced. Registration is $5 per child.
As seen on the History Channel, the Knights of Valor have been entertaining North American audiences since 1997. This year on August 3rd, they will bring the exciting shows of horsemanship, bravery, and chivalry to the Ozark Empire Fair! This is a one of a kind show for all ages. Ticket Prices for this event are as follows: Reserved Seating: $15, Adult General Admission: $10, Child General Admission: $5.
Some say THIS is the best part of the fair–the rides! Maybe you’re a thrill seeker and want to try the Screamer (launches you into the air!) or maybe you’re more of the ferris wheel type. Either way, there is sure to be something for every type of rider.
Top racers will compete on the dirt floor in front of the Ozark Empire Fair Grandstands, soaring over 60 feet in the air. UTV’s are the hottest off road vehicles and these highly skilled drivers are coming to battle it out. Grab your friends and family, it all happens on August 2nd!
There is loads to do for free at the fair this year. Many of these are family friendly, so be sure to bring the whole crew along.
