Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but who says you have to eat it in the morning? Breakfast for dinner is right up there with sliced bread in the greatest culinary innovations in food history. A night time omelet can be a treat that puts an exclamation point on your day like no other meal can. We’re lucky in Springfield to have so many great places to get breakfast all day long. Here are some of our favorites with a little help from Ron Swanson, lover of breakfast.
Wednesday through Saturday They’re open til 10 p.m.
If you thought one of the best breakfast spots in town couldn’t get any better, you’re in for some great news. Starting last November, Gailey’s Breakfast Cafe from 7:00am to 10:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays and added Wednesday and Thursday! Some of the perks offered by Gailey’s will include a great lunch and dinner menu, happy hour drink specials from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., a bright atmosphere, and of course the famous breakfast dishes they already serve up. The new menu will include burgers (such as a vegan black bean burger with gluten free toast provided by Mama Jean’s), sandwiches, and hand crafted cocktails. We can’t wait to see what other new items they come up with!
Open Daily from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Crepes are delicious. Aviary Cafe serves them all day to folks who are looking for a sweet-savory combo meal that is second to none in the area. You can get a variety of different breakfast ingredients rolled up in a not-too-sweet, thin pancake. It’s at a peanut butter and chocolate level of perfect combinations. Aviary does all sorts of breakfast dishes, too. There’s plenty more if you’re not in a crepe mood. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu!
Open daily from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Cedar’s is a classic country restaurant in Springfield. It’s a throwback restaurant that lives by the mantra “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Cedar’s serves up comfort food breakfast dishes like country fried steak and eggs (pictured above), and hearty staples of breakfast food like hash browns, biscuits and gravy and big, fluffy omelets.
Open daily 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.
Springfield Family Restaurant has it all. You can get pretty much any breakfast meal you can imagine from the robust menu here. They have a few dishes named in honor of the Ozarks, including the Ozarks Benedict. Are you ready for this? It’s a fresh-baked biscuit topped with two sausage patties, scrambled eggs, country white gravy and two strips of bacon. Does it get any better than that?
Open 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and until midnight on Friday and Saturday
Although Village Inn is probably best known for its pies, don’t sleep on the breakfast. It’s a jam-packed, creative menu with awesome dishes like expert skillets, brightside breakfasts and southwest favorites. Perhaps the most innovative breakfast item you can get is the V.I.B. You can pick four items from a list that has a scrumptious selection of breakfast foods that would make Ron Swanson smile.
Open 24 hours!
