Love is in the air! Or is that just the smell of a delicious Prairie Pie? Springfield is a hotbed for delicious confections and baked goods. Here are just a few places that you’ve got to try!
One of the best places to get gelato in Springfield is Mae’s Gelateria! They have (what feels like) endless flavors to choose from and several different sizes to fix your cravings big or small. They are located downtown on the corner of Jefferson and Walnut, and just opened a brand new location on Glenstone across from Jimm’s Steakhouse!
This is the place to be if you want completely unique, gourmet treats in the Ozarks! They make everything from scratch here and the quality shows. You’ll be sure to find at least one thing you’ll like–almond croissants, nutella babka (like nutella bread), delicious macarons, creme brulee, and not to mention their stellar coffee options. They’ve just added a brand new baking school as well!
A classic Southwest Missouri dessert is Andy’s Frozen Custard! Bring your out of towners, your besties, or your family to an Andy’s and you’ll make memories for life. It’s the perfect after dinner treat anytime of the year– yes, even in winter. And right now they’ve got their popular Mint Cookie Concrete for a limited time!
Tea Bar is one of the best places to grab new freshly made desserts every day. They have a variety of treats available and they are always different! A few crowd favorites include: Blueberry Cream Cheese Muffins, Strawberry Goat Cheese Scones, Chocolate Torte, Signature Tea Bar Cookies, and pictured below, Peanut Butter Brownie Cheesecake. They post what they have available on their facebook page daily, so head over there to see what goodies they are serving each day!
If you’ve been around Springfield for some time, you’ve probably been to Black Sheep Burgers and Shakes. But have you tried Black Sheep ASAP yet? It’s the same amazing food and desserts from the sit-down location, only drive-in style! You can get your favorite Black Sheep shakes without the wait. Try decadent shakes like the Elvis (banana, peanut butter, chocolate syrup, Irish cream, and frozen custard) or the Strawberry Fields (homemade shortcake, strawberry, cake vodka, and frozen custard) just to name a few!
If you’re looking for the best homemade pies in Springfield, look no further! Eleanor Taylor of Prairie Pie makes the most delicious pies around–you can find them at places like Druff’s and Cherry Picker Package and Fare right now. She also arranges for orders to be delivered if that’s more of your style! Check out her instagram below to see a variety of the mouthwatering desserts.
The Order at Hotel Vandivort has tons of delicious desserts to choose from, with ingredients hand crafted right here in the Ozarks! If you’re a fan of Askinosie Chocolate and Hurts Donuts, you’ll love what the Order has to offer dessert wise.

This dessert place is so fresh, they haven’t even opened their doors yet! That’s right, Downtown Springfield is getting a cookie dough place. They will offer flavors of edible, safe to eat cookie dough along with many other options: cookies, cookie sandwiches, shakes, coffee, sundaes and more. While no official open date is set yet, check out their Facebook page below for updates. We can’t wait for this new addition to SGF!
To finish off our dessert faves in SGF, we’re landing on Civil Kitchen! If you’ve had a chance to check out the dessert menu here, that alone will bring you back time and time again. They’ve thought of the best ides here, like the Ooey Gooey Butter Cake Ice Cream Sandwich. That’s everything good in one sentence! Be sure to check out their menu on Facebook below:
