We’ve seen some great spots pop up on our foodie radar this year. Springfield is expanding its culinary culture more all the time. It’s an exciting time to be hungry for sure! Check out these 5 restaurants in Springfield that are hoppin’ right now.
There’s a new spot to eat some great Indian Food in downtown Springfield! Zayka held its grand opening on November 2nd, just in time for the First Friday Art Walk. They serve up a wide variety of authentic Indian dishes as well as buffet style dining, all while focusing on high quality ingredients. If it’s any indicator of how well they’ll do, Zayka was recently a hit at Taste of SOMO, running out of food just about two hours into the event! Be sure to give them a visit if you are game for some awesome Indian food. They are located at 309 S. Jefferson, next to Vito’s Kitchen.
If you thought one of the best breakfast spots in town couldn’t get any better, you’re in for some great news. Starting November 11th, Gailey’s Breakfast Cafe will be open from 7:00am to 10:00pm on Fridays and Saturdays! Some of the perks offered by Gailey’s will include a great lunch and dinner menu, happy hour drink specials from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m., a bright atmosphere, and of course the famous breakfast dishes they already serve up. The new menu will include burgers (such as a vegan black bean burger with gluten free toast provided by Mama Jean’s), sandwiches, and hand crafted cocktails. We can’t wait to see what other new items they come up with!
This new family owned spot is serving up Japanese and Filipino food just off of National, near downtown! The owners are originally from Poplar Bluff, where they have the first Exotic Grill location. They are serving dishes like lumpia, a hearty Filipino take on spring rolls, and ramen, a Japanese staple dish consisting of noodles and pork or chicken-based broth, decorated with meats and vegetables. Despite having a wide range of Asian restaurants, Springfield didn’t have one with a focus on ramen. These factors present a great market to dive into, according to the owners. Their tagline, “Why have something ordinary, when you can have something exotic,” says it all. Welcome to SGF, The Exotic Grill!
Yoselin’s is a brand new Mexican place just across the street from Missouri State University in the Wilhoit Plaza! The name Yoselin belongs to the owner’s grandniece. They know that food in Mexico is not just rice, beans and meat–it’s a lot more. So they will sell menu items like street tacos (filled with carne asada beef, pork, beef barbacoa and chicken), along with things like gorditas and nachos supreme, just to name a few. They also will provide an online ordering service, and plan on being open until 3:00am Thursdays though Sundays.
Since their grand opening in Springfield earlier this year, Neighbor’s Mill has been nothing short of amazing. They specialize in hand-crafted American-hearth style breads, soups, salads and sandwiches, desserts and espresso drinks. If you’ve been there around lunchtime, the place is always buzzing with good food and scents of fresh bread. They originally started with a location in Harrison, Arkansas and then had the opportunity to branch out to SGF, and we’re thankful they did! One of the must try menu items Neighbor’s Mill has to offer is the famous cinnamon roll. Not to mention they’ve got tons of Thanksgiving Day sweets to pre order! Keep up the good work, Neighbor’s Mill.
