We could come up with about a thousand reasons to love the practice of a seasonal menu. A business willing to create a dedicated seasonal menu signals to foodies and lovers of great dining that something special is happening there. Thankfully, many spots around Springfield have stepped up to the task and have created some awesome menus specifically for this winter! The remarkable and local Mother’s Brewery is always coming up with creative ways to shake up the industry. One of our favorite seasonal items coming from them right now is the Winter Grind Coffee Stout. This English dry stout sets a nice roasty foundation for the large dose of locally roasted Mudhouse Coffee that they add after fermentation. With bold espresso aroma and flavor from start to finish, Winter Grind delivers that kick you need to start your day, or refuel for the after party.
Kingdom Coffee has a new winter seasonal menu filled with several tasty drinks! The menu includes the White Christmas (coffee, brown sugar, vanilla, half & half and gin tea), Askinosie Iced Coffee, House Made Eggnog, and Mulled Cider. Be sure to try their brand new waffle menu as well, with favorites like the Ricotta & Sriracha or Courgette & Cheese!
Other than the usual salted caramel and the gingerbread latte for the Christmas season, Eurasia Coffee & Tea on C-Street is whipping up something even more special this year! Their fall and winter inspired menu includes a salted caramel apple cider and a crystallized ginger apple cider. But the must try drink of the winter season is the Black Cat: a mocha featuring Askinosie chocolate, espresso, milk, Hawaiian black lava salt and chopped pistachios. Any of these special drinks are sure to cure your winter blues!
The Aviary is a hot spot in downtown Springfield, and there’s no shortage of great menu items to choose from when the new seasons roll around. This is a great place to take your new to Springfield guests this holiday season for some fantastic crepes, and a chance for you to try some new menu items! A few of their seasonal surprises for the winter time include a house made mulled wine, a cinnamon roll dessert crepe, and apple cider mimosas. Say no more– we’re there.
Metro Farmer‘s menu is always changing, and that’s what we love about them. All year long they take food that is in season and incorporate it into some of the most fantastic dishes you’ll find in Springfield. Just check out that smoked quail! Some of their other recent creations include Hunter’s Stew (roasted potatoes, Peace Valley Farms chicken, and a stew of garlic, shallots, mushrooms, thyme, and tomatoes) and braised cabbage, sausage, pappardelle pasta with brown butter, apple bourbon glaze and pickled mustard.
We can always count on The Urban Cup downtown to whip up some specialty cupcakes for the changing seasons! For the winter months, the Raspberry Beret cupcake is the star, consisting of raspberry buttercream, french vanilla cake, and raspberry filling. They also have premium limited edition cupcakes for many months of the year. For January, they have German Chocolate cupcakes (coconut pecan frosting and light chocolate cake), the Graceland cupcake (peanut butter buttercream and banana cake), and the Banilla cupcake (vanilla buttercream and banana cake). Be sure to head downtown and try one out!
The Farmer’s Gastropub is a gem all on it’s own! They strive to serve the finest and freshest food available; they believe the fresher the food, the better it tastes. That’s why Farmers Gastropub is committed to naturally raised, local and sustainable foods, and the farmers who produce them! Their menu is always changing with whatever is in season. This winter they’ve got some unique menu items, like Pig Ear tacos. Don’t knock ’em until you try ’em!
