By now, everyone’s heard of the newest movie-going experience in Springfield. It’s more than just watching a film. It’s a full blown night out. The Alamo Drafthouse is a great place grab a bite to eat, have a few drinks and watch some quality movies. They also have really fun one-of-a-kind events for film buffs. On July 31st, they’ll host a ‘quote along’ night featuring the classic Jim Henson film Labyrinth. Guests are encouraged to dress up, sing along and recite quotes with the film! Keep an eye out for other cool events like this from Alamo. There will be plenty.
Do your date night downtown Springfield style! Hit up the new online sverige Vito’s Kitchen (open Wednesdays for lunch and Thurs-Fri for dinner) where Vito himself will visit you after the meal, making sure every taste was up to perfection. You can catch a great comedy show at the Skinny Improv, or maybe your favorite play is at The Springfield Little Theater. See what’s showing at The Moxie, Springfield’s only cinema offering independent & foreign films. Finish your night at The Urban Cup, one of Springfield’s first gourmet cupcake shops with several different flavors available.
Get up and go get active! If you’re the adventurous and outdoorsy type, this date package is for you. We suggest hitting up Zenith Climbing Center, where a day pass for $15 gets you access to the climbing, yoga and workout facilities. This is beautifully designed new climbing center located off of east Sunshine. Get your bike out or take a stroll at the Nature Center and enjoy the awesome summer weather. Then take a visit to SGF’s food truck park, where you can find various types of meals to enjoy after a long afternoon of activity!
The perfect quaint date night. Start off your evening at Tea Bar and Bites with an endless list of teas and scrumptious dishes to choose from (our personal recommendation: the chipotle chicken tacos are to die for!). Since everything is within walking distance, you won’t need to worry about driving all over town. Head down the street to Elle’s Patisserie for some delicious desserts, like assorted macarons, gourmet chocolate truffles, french pastries and so much more. End your night at Cherry Picker Package + Fare with some coffee and cocktails. With floor to ceiling racks stocked, you’ll be sure to find something you like.
Maybe you’re celebrating a big anniversary, or maybe you’re due for a really nice night out. Springfield has some great fine dining places that will be perfect for your special night. Make a reservation at Touch Restaurant, a striking two story kitchen & lounge serving flashy takes on Mediterranean food, plus an array of fantastic cocktails. Make your way to Farmer’s Park to enjoy a night on the rooftop of Barley, Wheat & Rye Social House, a whiskey bar with extensive cocktail, beer, and wine menus. Many weekends they will have live music going, so check their website for more information!
These summer are nights are perfect for a drive-in movie! Grab your pillows, blankets and snacks, then head out to one of the two drive in movie theaters in the Ozarks: Sunset Drive In located in Aurora, or 66 Drive-In Theater (17231 Old 66 Blvd in Carthage). All of these places have entry fees of $7 or under, so you won’t be breaking the bank!
Farm to table dining is gaining in popularity, and Springfield is catching on. Metropolitan Farmer in Springfield or Harvest in Rogersville are serving up a totally organic menu. Dining at any of these places would make for a great date night! Metropolitan Farmer ‘s chef Wes Johnson regularly recreates their menu of offerings after finding daily inspiration from the fresh, locally grown ingredients their farmer partners provide. Sometimes they even have a ‘create your own bloody mary bar’ that is one-of-a-kind. Harvest in Rogersville combines hand selected ingredients, local flavor, artisan producers all on one plate.
Bonus: If you haven’t heard of Millsap Farm’s Thursday Pizza Nights, you’ve got to put it on your calendar! Millsap Farm is located just outside of Springfield and each week they harvest their fresh, organically raised produce and create different kinds of pizzas that also feature other local meats, cheeses, sauces and vegetables. The delicious wood-fired pizzas are cooked in their handmade New Mexico style Horno wood-fired earthen oven.
Celebrate the good times with a throwback themed date. Located downtown, 1984 is an retro 80’s arcade for all ages! They charge a $7.50 admission at the door, and don’t charge for playing or not playing. It’s just the cost to get in the gate! They’ve got everything from Pac-Man, Frogger to Galaga…you name it, they’ve probably got it! Afterwards hit up the new 417 Taphouse, just around the corner from 1984. This place is essentially a self serve beer bar with games! They’ve got life sized jenga and various arcade games. Did we mention it’s a self serve beer bar? Yep. You’ll just have to go to find out!
