Even the greatest painters in history couldn’t replicate a proper Ozarkian sunset. The SGF hashtag is flooded with amazing sunrise and sunset photos on Instagram. Nearly every day someone in the Ozarks captures one of those perfect moments in the morning and evening when the sun is just right to create a gorgeous array of colorful clouds. Take a look at some of our favorites from the past few months, and let us know if we missed one of your favorites!
Stunning, Tim Shelburn. Absolutely stunning. @tshelburn is a great follow for gorgeous shots like this of our beautiful city.

Love Springfield is a quintessential follow on Instagram and any other network they’re on. Love Springfield does a great job at reminding us on a daily basis of why we hold Springfield so dear to our hearts. Kudos to @mepreuss on the photo!
The day began with a breathtaking sunrise and is now coming to a close with this glorious sunset, what a perfect gift for Christmas Eve! 🎄 #merrychristmas #sunset A photo posted by Kelsey Elam (@kelsbe) on
Springfield resident and author/artist Kelsey Elam captured this countryside sunrise on Christmas Eve. This gorgeous shot is mixed in amongst Kelsey’s beautiful paper flower posts. Seriously, check them out and keep an eye out for Elam’s 100 Simple Paper Flowers this spring.
Springfield-area pilot Josh Martin took this sunset from the cockpit! A great aerial shot of the Queen City. Way to go Josh!
Took this one about thirty minutes ago but couldn’t post it until now because, y’know, don’t ‘gram & drive. #doublerainbow #sointense #nofilter A photo posted by Ana Pierce (@itsanaactually) on
Ana Pierce really captured the essence of the double rainbow in #SGF with this shot. Also, read the comments. Ana waited until after stopping the car to post. Ten and two, way to go Ana.
Downtown blogger and photog Mark Hillenburg got this great shot of the city. From the newly renovated Heer’s building the city sure does look great!

This shot at Table Rock Lake was a staff favorite. We used it for several ads. A great shot by William Roberts of Elite Photo Art.
Here’s a great shot of the front of our building early one morning.
Rembrandt, Kandinsky, Picasso…they’re great, but there’s nothing quite like a sunrise over Table Rock or a sunset cascading through the streets of Downtown Springfield. Thanks for sharing your photos with the community everyone!
If you’d like us to your sunrise/sunset photos or one that you love from another user, tag us or just use the SGF hashtag. We’ll see you!
