It’s easy to get in a rut when it comes to date nights. Dinner and a movie is a classic, but it can get a little stale from time to time. Thinking outside the box and trying new stuff out can be a really fun way to let loose and have fun with your significant other. There’s so much stuff going on in Springfield, too! So many great options are out there for you to try! Let’s take a look at a few of them!
The perfect date night spot – a local cooking class! B & B Boulangerie, located behind Homegrown Foods in Rountree, puts on a fantastic date night cooking class once a month with a brand new theme each time. Some past food themes include Italian, Canadian, Greek and Parisian! Be sure to sign up soon, the classes fill up quick. Check them out on Facebook for more info!
Monk’s Social Club is a great place to try out for a date night! Check out one of their many comedy nights including appearances by the Skinny Improv, Jeff Jenkins and Jeff Houghton, plus the newest comedy troupe in town, the Beatdowns. Friday nights are usually a good time to catch some great local jazz, but check the schedule because there’s always some good music booked. This is one of the coolest new spots in town!
Every weekend, Founders Park puts on Movie Nights in the Park–perfect for a summer date night! Admission is free for everyone. Friday night is Family Night and Saturday is Date Night. The movies begin at dusk and you can bring your own lawn chairs. Check out their Facebook event for the list of movies for each week!
There are so many new restaurants open in Springfield–what better way to enjoy a date night than with new grub! Try some Greek food with the grand opening of Greek Belly in downtown Springfield, or hit up Commercial street and try some Dutch food from the new Van Gogh’s restaurant. A restaurant bang bang is when you go to two restaurants in one evening. If you’re really hungry, get two entrees at each restaurant to try then do it again at another restaurant right after. If you’re a normal amount of hungry get one to share at each restaurant. It’s a little over the top, but it’s a fun way to knock out a bunch of new restaurants in town you’ve been meaning to try!
Every Thursday night during the Summer, Millsap Farm holds their fantastic event called Pizza Night! It’s a great time with or without the kids. You get to make your own pizza using fresh, locally sourced ingredients and then fire it up in a New Mexico style Horno wood-fired earthen oven. The pizza is so good and it only takes a few minutes to cook! The pizza is then served buffet style, giving you a chance to mingle if you like. They also have live music on hand with great local musicians like Barak Hill, Brandon Moore and Molly Healey. Before or after you eat, you can take a look around the Millsap and see what local farming is all about!
Local music legend Joe Terry hosts a really fun trivia night every Wednesday night at Q Enoteca. He’s a riot on stage, cracking jokes and getting the crowd involved throughout. He asks questions on everything from local history to classic movies and of course, music. Terry has toured the world with some of the Ozarks’ greatest bands like the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, the Skeletons and the Morells. He shares some of his experiences on stage and his knowledge in the trivia. Plus, you’re at Q Enoteca, so you can enjoy some fine wines, great service and the other awesome local shops on Historic C Street!
If you’re a gardener or a design enthusiast, this one could be a great fit for you! Plant Nite is a series of events held in different restaurants across the Ozarks in which attendees learn how to make a new plant arrangement each time. The events are led by people who have a knack for deisnging awesome arrangements for the exterior or interior of your home.
