If gyms aren’t your cup of tea, worry not! There are plenty of places in town that offer an alternative to traditional gym settings that will help you keep those New Year’s resolutions. This list has everything from martial arts to rock climbing to an American Ninja Warrior style obstacle course! Check out these places that are great to get fit without having to go to a gym!

This is a 5,000 square foot indoor obstacle course in the mold of an American Ninja Warrior course. It’s a great way to get into shape and it’s really fun too! Bring the kids and make a day of it!

Bodysmith offers certified pilates training in a peaceful, friendly environment. Pilates is their main focus, but they also host classes on yoga, ai Chi, Kettlebells, Core Barre, Suspension Training, Hula Hoops and Cardio Classes by experienced, certified and highly qualified instructors. They also have a boxing gym in the basement of their location downtown.

The folks at Aerial Fitness aim to teach people the joy of aerial arts. Classes are held in two locations. Monday and Tuesday classes are held at Phenomenal Studio on Olive Street in Downtown Springfield. Wednesday and Friday classes are held at Zenith Climbing Center. It’s a full body workout that is open to anyone, no matter how in shape or out of shape they are!

For all the pugilists out there, Springfield Brazilian Jiu Jitsu might be a good choice for you to get some exercise and to learn martial arts. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is one of the more popular fighting techniques used in Mixed Martial Arts. Most notably, Anderson “The Spider” Silva used this style during his MMA career. It’s a full body exercise that will teach you patience and work the core parts of your body.

It’s a really fun way to shed some holiday weight that won’t take place in an intimidating gym. Springfield East Jazzercise has classes nearly every day of the week and it’s really affordable to join!

If you’re looking for a way to get a great cardio workout and learn some self defense techniques at the same time, Springfield Fight Club might be a good fit for you. They teach classes on kickboxing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and general MMA fighting techniques. Hopefully you never have to use them in real life! During your training you’ll definitely feel better physically because the work required to learn these disciplines is no walk in the park, but it is fun!
Certified personal trainer Pamela Hernandez has been helping people stay fit through exercise and a healthy, delicious diet for many years in Springfield. Hernandez creates a personal approach to fitness with each of clients. She has a semi-private exercise facility to use, but she also hosts events outside and at other locations around town. She’s a very friendly presence on her Facebook page and shares encouragement and good vibes regularly to her clients!

Sumits is a place that has become more than just a yoga studio! They understand the healing benefits of the heat, because the body protects itself from injury during physical exertion by generating heat inside the muscles.
