We have finally made it to the weekend! There are so many different events happening this weekend in the 417! From cultural events to some of our favorite fall festivals, Oktoberfest and the theatre and arts – there is something to keep you busy all weekend long!
1.Taste of Tlaquepaque: Dia de los Muertos
October 13 | Gillioz Theatre – Springfield, MO
Join Springfield Sister Cities Association for Taste of Tlaquepaque, a festive celebration of Springfield’s 20-year sister city relationship with Tlaquepaque, Jalisco, Mexico. This year, they will honor the rich and colorful tradition of Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, a time to remember and celebrate the lives of our loved ones who have passed away.
2. Apple Butter Makin’ Days
October 13-15 | Mt. Vernon, MO
The BIGGEST fall festival in our area is held in Mt. Vernon. The festival features 450+ booths of handmade crafts, entertainment, fun for kids, food and more! This event draws nearly 90,000 visitors each year and has been pleasing crowds for over 50 years!
3. VisionCon
October 13-15 | Springfield Expo Center – Springfield
Don’t miss Southwest Missouri’s premier pop culture convention! The family friendly convention features comic books, science fiction, fantasy, cosplay, live action role playing, gaming and so much more! VisionCon is put on every year so that fans can get together and have some fun while also raising money for local charities.
4. Finding Nemo Jr. – Springfield Little Theatre
October 13 – October 15 | Landers Theatre – Springfield
Dive into the captivating world of Disney’s Finding Nemo JR., a heartwarming musical following the adventurous journey of a little clownfish named Nemo. The tale is sure to be fun for the whole family!
5. Rountree Witch’s Weekend
October 13-14 | The Corner at Rountree – Springfield
The 1st Annual Rountree Witch’s Weekend is happening this weekend! This is a spooky fun event for femmes & thems, 21+. Bring your coven, don your best witch wear, and enjoy otherworldly activities, specials, drinks, food and more at #TheCornerAtRountree!
6. Native American Heritage Celebration
October 14 | Wonders of Wildlife – Springfield, MO
Step into the rich tapestry of America’s indigenous people at the Native American Heritage Celebration, hosted by Wonders of Wildlife! There will be art and dance, a cultural marketplace showcasing Native American vendors from across the Ozarks, and so much more!
7. Scenic Riverways Arts & Crafts Show
October 14 | Eminence, MO
This outdoor arts and crafts show features oil paintings, wood carvings, pottery, weaving and more. This event promotes and showcases the craftsmanship of Ozark artists and hobbyists. This is a one day event so don’t miss it!
8. 2nd Annual Historic River District Oktoberfest
October 14 | Ozark, MO
Bring your chair and come celebrate with family and friends! There will be live music (Chelsey James, 7D Funk Allstars, Psychobilly Cadilac, Members Only), 10 local breweries with beer tasting, a cornhole tournament, kids zone, food trucks and vendors!
9. Harvest Festival l 14 Mill Market Harvest Party
October 14 | Nixa, MO
Mark your calendars! 14 Mill Market is going to have a day full of festivities for everyone. Line dancing, pop-up vendors, pumpkin painting, face painting PLUS Kit Barley & the Creekside Bandits on the stage!
10. Hollister’s Grape & Fall Festival
October 14 | Hollister, MO
The Hollister Grape and Fall Festival returns to Downtown Hollister October 14, 2023! Enjoy live entertainment, a grape stomp, a Color Me Grape 5K, petting zoo, street dance and more, all in Historic Downtown Hollister.
11. Art in the Park
October 14-15 | Sequiota Park – Springfield
Outdoor art festival in one of the most beautiful parks in SW MO. Over 30 fine artists from around the states displaying and selling their art, hosted by the SW MO Art and Craft Guild. This a free event.
