Looking Forward to 2022
Dated: January 7 2022
It’s 2022 and we’re excited to see what the year brings to our community.
This year we’re looking forward to celebrating Murney Associates’ 25th anniversary. Can you believe we've been serving families in the Greater Springfield community for a quarter of a century? We’ll be reminiscing about our journey, so keep an eye out for that!
Here’s some other things happening in Springfield and surrounding areas to look forward to:
TrailSpring is building 66 miles of trails along Historic Route 66. Natural surface trails designed for hiking, running, and biking starts at Fellows Lake just north of Springfield. Construction began in 2020 and is expected to finish later this year.
The season doesn’t start until April, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be excited now and plan ahead. Check out their schedule.
Expected to begin construction this year and end in 2024, Grant Avenue Parkway will create an off-street pedestrian and bicycle pathway. The Parkway will begin Downtown and end at Wonders of Wildlife on Sunshine, connecting multiple parks, neighborhoods, and schools along the way.
Last year Finley Farms opened a restaurant in the historic Ozark Mill on the Finley River. This year they'll be opening The Garrison—named after Riverside Inn founder Howard Garrison—a turn-of-the-century speakeasy located below The Ozark Mill restaurant.
Closing last year when the owners retired, the National Art Shop will soon be home to a new Andy’s location. The new location will put the frozen treat on the doorstep of MSU. Future college students will get to create magical memories of late-night summer walks to get custard with their friends.
