These are a few great places to go in Springfield if you love music.
There’s nothing like experiencing a concert in a historical 1920’s theatre, and that’s exactly what the Gillioz is! The restoration of the Gillioz Theatre was completed in October 2006, eighty years after the original opening. Both the lobby and auditorium have been restored to their original 1926 condition. You can find all kinds of different concerts coming from this theatre located in downtown Springfield. Some recent big names that have graced the stage include Old Crow Medicine Show, Brandi Carlile, Ben Folds, Styx, and Fitz & the Tantrums.
As one of the best places in town to find vinyl, you’ll never get bored of exploring Stick It In Your Ear’s various collections. These guys are serious about music and will go out of their way to help you find the record you’ve been searching for. They are Springfield’s go-to store for music, posters, shirts and stories for over two decades. Extra thumbs up for the meticulous way they organize everything!
Just down the street from our offices you can find Palen Music Center, selling fine instruments since the early sixties. You can find just about any instrument and any accessory for said instrument at Palen Music. Their facility includes a state of the art repair shop for all of your instrument repair needs. They’re also a great resource for music lessons, for youngsters and adults alike! They just opened another location in St. Louis, so you know they mean business.
A dueling piano bar featuring live pianists, a vibrant atmosphere & daily drink specials is the definition of Ernie Biggs! They feature talented pianists, other instrumentalists, singers and bands. You can name any song from any decade and the skillful piano players are sure to know it… you might be surprised. Ernie Biggs is all about music and fun, and is always hopping on the weekends!
Combine good coffee and great classic rock hits, and you’ve got Classic Rock Coffee! Here you can see, hear and taste the difference with the rock ‘n’ roll–themed java drinks, protein shakes, light fare & a cool ambiance. They also have a large stage area for holding concerts every now and then!
As the oldest bar in Springfield, MO and embracing the rich history of the 130 year old building, Lindberg’s is one of the best places to hang out and hear live music. They’ve got fantastic shows every weekend and the food (exotic burgers, funnel cakes, poutine fries and much more) is all amazing. Not to mention they’ve got local breweries on tap and hand crafted cocktails. The Shrine is also another great place to catch some great musical acts. We see a lot of country music guests at the Shrine, but there’s no shortage of other genres too. An upcoming concert to watch for is Chase Rice on December 8th. Some past shows they’ve had include The Avett Brothers, Shinedown, Willie Nelson, Mac Miller and many more. In addition to housing some sweet musical guests, it’s also where the Shrine Circus is held every year!
Juanita K. is a contemporary, curved hall hosting touring Broadway shows, symphonies, dance & other performances. All kinds of music comes through these doors, whether it’s the Springfield Symphony Orchestra, musical comedy acts, or even Dancing with the Stars, Live! They’ve featured some big Broadway series performances like Wicked, Mamma Mia! And West Side Story. Juanita K. Hammons Hall is all about creating and maintaining a state-of-the-art performing arts center to serve the needs of Springfield and the surrounding region.
